This iso was made by opening the golden master 'InstallESD.dmg' in disk utility and converting it to a cd/dvd master. Macs use the extension '.cdr' for raw image files so I then changed it to '.iso'. I just did a sha1 hash scan on my windows pc 3 times using the utility that I provided a link to and another hash program, and both times I get the correct hash of B48FBA8054A252BACABFD8F5B56CF5. Then I did the same hash scan on a mac in terminal using the openssl sha1 command and got a whole different hash! It was 65c4aee5fd8d7e68a0be460601e0f068d4a58bc. Try generating the hash using windows and see if you are getting the same result. I have never had a situation like this come up before. In the meanwhile do hash checks using the windows utility. For those people who are having a hard time installing Mountain Lion on a PC it's because you are trying to install it on a PC! Unless you custom built your computer with parts that work with mac systems 100% good luck.
It is a highly improbable that you will install this on a PC and it will work completely right away. A lot of tweaks and other modifications must be done. And even with all the work to make it functional it may still never work properly. Search online forums for help. For all those who are having a hard time burning this image I say try the burning software I provided a link to and set the burn speed to the lowest you possible can to reduce the errors that a high speed burn can cause. Keep in mind that you do not have to burn this image to dvd to do an install: If you have Mac OS X 10.6 installed with the latest updates you can do an upgrade. Just open the image and double click on the installer. It should allow you to do an upgrade. If you have Mac OS X 10.5 or lower you will have to do a clean install. It is a hacked image of the apple system that allows it to be installed on a compatible pc. It is not a good idea to load a hacked image into a mac that if built by apple. There is no reason to do so because who knows what may happen. If you are installing on an apple machine, just stick with the official untouched OS.
You can always update it within the system. Second: The image I have uploaded '.cdr' and the one provided by apple '.dmg' are identical! They are just in different image formats, but the content in each is completely identical. Using disk utility in mac you can easily convert between the two. But you do not need to because you can put either of these onto a usb drive through disk utility with no problems. Even though the guides ask for 'InstallEDS.DMG', you can use 'InstallEDS.CDR' and still get the same exact result! I hope that answers your question.

And I can't order recovery disks from Apple as I am not currently in US and there is no Apple store in the entire country where I currently am. The problem is that doing so might delete all your existing files unless you are doing an upgrade. Since you have Snow Leopard, if it was updated you can do an upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion and all your files will be preserved. There is another way of taking your files off a computer with a os that doesn't boot. Search google for something called 'mac firewire target mode'. This might help you get your files and then overwrite the system with Mountain Lion.
